Better yet, goto Wal-mart and buy a handgun case for 14.95 and make a radio case out of it.

Thanks Tim, I was eyeballing one of those cases at Lowe's just the other day. The question is: Will two JR 8103s fit in it?

The ones that Tim is talking about are aluminum...they are identical to the JR cases except for the sticker.

Actually, they are ten times better than the JR cases. I've seen both side by side and man is that JR case junk. I have the Lowes special and you can't beat it.

Wal-Mart had aluminum cases for 2 radios like the Lowes, for 19.95 CDN. Should be less US dollars. I love the case!

The bad part about the one from Lowes and a couple other locations is you still have to go out and buy foam to go in the case. Every once and a while Harbor Freight and WalMart get in some aluminum cases that have the foam already in them. This is the foam that is precut into little blocks so all you do is pull out the blocks for a custom fit. Bought several from WalMart two years ago and they are still in use.
The ones with the dividers so make good tool and part boxes.
As far as the JR case being junk, I think what you were looking at was a junk case somebody placed a JR sticker on.

Default Transmitter Cases

I have had, and still do have all of the above. The plastic gun case with the wildlife scene works fine. I still have 2 of the Home Depot cases with the dividers, and they hold 2 radios fine, and I now have one of the JR 10X cases, and they are definitely not junk. Are they worth the extra money? That's up to you and how much money you want to spend on a case. They come ready for your radio, with nicer locks, and with that neat JR logo, whereas the others don't. Again, how much is your legwork worth?

The case I got from lowes came with the foam, and the Jr case was an actual JR. Do they maybe make two different styles? This one was smaller than the Lowes special and the sides were bubbling out. It just looked very cheap. Certainly not worth the money that was paid for it.

The tool box from Lowes is a nice one for $20. I have one and it will hold two 8103's or probably any two radios for that matter. Just take out the desired foam for your radio and your in business.

With foam thats a fair price. The link showed one with the dividers, and altho the dividers can be adjusted to fit around the radio, there is still a lot of room for movement, might as well put it in a paper sack.
I have used the pistol cases when I raced RC cars for the wheel type transmitters. They work good, but theres just something about the aluminum case that keeps me using it.

Tip: Next Christmas check out the tools section in WalMart. They have aluminum cases, sometimes with foam and sometimes with dividers from $9.95 to $14.95 depending on location. Have not seen them there any other time of year there.

Default radio cases

If you have more than 2 radios a cheap shot gun case the one that is built for two works great cut radio outline in foam. Mine will hold 6 radios and it has handles and is easy to carry.

Tim,

Thanks for the link.

When you use all CAPITAL LETTERS while typing, it is harder to read. It also means you're yelling.

Default Just got one MYSELF-and my old Proline knobby Tx'es JUST fit!

Dear Fellow RCU'ers:

The PIPE Here yet AGAIN-and this Sunday I finally got MYSELF one of these cases at MY local Lowe's store.

These were on sale for JUST under $20 apiece, so I was thinking of getting another one in something like "within the next two weeks of time" for my soon-to-be-GROWING collection of Gordon Anderson MICROSTAR based "built-it-myself" single stick radios. (Got the encoder for the SECOND one ordered from Gordon himself last weekend!)

The "acid test" for MY needs for that Lowe's carrying case-and for ANYONE ELSE who has an old Proline single stick case with the 3 inch deep Tx case dimension, to accomodate the "original Chidgey Stick" three axis metal gimbal joystick to place a MicroStar Tx encoder into, like yours truly is planning to do is to make sure that THAT particular Tx will actually FIT inside the DEPTH of that nice case! Someone by the handle of "Turbines" has already done a MicroStar converison of one of the old ProLine "knobbies" here at RCU, in my thread about "building your OWN single stick radios" here at http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...053&forumid=70 ...his posts number 21 through 24 in that thread are of HIS MicroStar-stuffed ProLine knobby radio...and I'd bet HE would like to know about that case's suitability!

I removed ALL the loose foam "stuffings" from the case, and just left the case with the gray foam liner inside...then I placed one of my THREE ProLine knobby radios inside that case, and CAREFULLY closed the lid...AND IT CLOSED ALL THE WAY!!!

WHOOPEE......and NOW I know I had the RIGHT case to stow at least TWO of those Proline knobby radios in, once I get them in operation sometime within the next 18 months or so!

Goin' to be letting Turbines know about THIS nice feature of that Lowe's metal case...and I bet that he will want one, too!

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE! )
