Have read that the current lost model alarms will not work with the new 2.4ghz system,
have use them on my old 36mhz with excellent results,
Has anyone had experience using the alarms with the 2.4 Spectrum and JR gear.

I have a bunch of locators from www.californiasailplanes and Sky King, but they don't work with my Spektrum receivers. I still use them as battery monitors in my sailplanes that have been moved to 2.4.

I just posted a note to Winged Shadow to see if their locator works with Spektrum systems.

The one at www.skykingrcproducts will work with the original Futaba 6 channel 2.4 but has not been tested with others.

It will work with the Spektrum AR9000, but not the others.

The skyking ones with work with the 9000 receiver if you set it up to use the preset failsafe option vs. the built in Smart failsafe. The unfortunate thing is that Spektrum doesn't offer the preset failsafe option for all their full range receivers.

Thanks for your email.

The R/C Reporter will work fine with your Spektrum DSM2 Spread-Spectrum
module. The R/C Reporter plugs in like a servo and sees the same signal
that a servo would see. It is controlled from the transmitter by using the
stick, knob, or switch that controls the specific channel used. For
example, if you plug it into the retractable landing gear channel, it would
be controlled by switching on and off the "gear" switch.

The reporting features (Voltmeter, Glitch Count, and Minimum Voltage) are
activated by switching the gear switch, in this example, on and off 2, 3, or
4 times respectively. To play the homing melody, simply turn on the gear
switch and leave it on. This works the same for any radio type (FM, AM,
PCM, SS, etc.). Similarly, the Low Voltage warning feature works the same
with any radio. It is always active - warning beeps will sound if the
voltage drops below a preset level.

The only operation that differs with radio type is what happens when the
transmitter power is turned off. On most conventional (AM, FM) radios the
signals to the servos stop whenever the transmitter is off. The R/C
Reporter detects this and will play the homing tune. However, PCM and
Spread-Spectrum receivers continue to generate servo signals in the absence
of the transmitter signal. Most systems continue to send the last servo
position when the transmitter is off. So, if you want the R/C Reporter to
play when the transmitter is off, simply switch ON the controlling channel
(the gear switch in our example) before switching off the transmitter. The
homing melody will then continue to play while the transmitter is off.

Typical lost modes alarms,which are activated by the lack of a "valid" servo pulse(when the radio signal is lost), won't work with any receiver that has a built in failsafe.That includes most 2.4ghz receivers,PCM receivers,and "smart" FM receivers(Like the FMA M5 and others).

Hey Al,
I would like to see it work before I actually loose the plane in the scrub.
Well remember the day that I lost the Diablo.
We searched for 3 hours, just about gave up and the damn thing was right above us in the trees.
A missing alarm would have saved allot of grief.

A missing plane alarm can CAUSE you grief too! I had one that started increasing the throttle at random. I unplugged it, and plugged the throttle servo directly into the receiver, and I never experienced another problem like that again!

I had a couple alarms in other planes, and promptly disconnected them! Besides, when your plane goes in, it is likely to rip out the battery anyway, in a rough meeting with Mother Earth!

Have just received my Winged Shadow R/C Reporter.
Good service, posted 22nd Air to Australia arrived 31st.
Work's perfectly with my 2.4ghz JR DSX9 and Spektrum AR7000 DSM2 7 Channel Receiver connected to the Gear channel,
with Fail-safe set.
Cant see why it wouldn't work with the other 2.4ghz various channel Spektrum receivers.
Cant comment about the Spektrum transmitters, but OK with the JR DSX9.
