crystal question
This is a dumb question but I have never encountered it before. I know that to install i crystal it is just a matter of pushing it into the reciever, but is there a certain way it must go in? Or doesnt it matter? Also, that tape strip that says the channel number, do I leave in on the crystal or take it off? These are hitec recievers and crystals. Thanks.

A crystal has no polarity. Doesn't matter which way it is plugged in.
I just fold the little tag over to the side. It gives something to tug on to remove the crystal

fLATFOUR:
jUST got on... I just bought a Futaba receiver over Ebay.. it was advertised as Ch 57 -which I wanted for my Hitec in a 2nd plane. It has a silver tag on the side that says 57 above the 72.390MHZ freq, but the xtal inthe side has a red 42 tag on it! Does ch57 use a 42 xtal?

Hi Nitehawk:
No, that is a channel 42 crystal. You can change cyrstals within the band, and this is what your seller has done.

Thank you, I have just sent an email to the seller- I suspect I'll just have to buy a Ch 57 receiver xtal for the FP-R127DF. Or do I have to get a new pair?

The frequency is determined by the crystal. As far as I know, Futaba is the only manuf. to have hi and lo band tuned receivers.
If you have a 42 crystal, yes you could buy a 57 crystal, but e-mail me direct. I have a web site of a guy that does crystal exchanges for a tiny fee.
