Default hitec servos and JR reciever-6.0 volts

I'm about to start building a Laser 200 25% kit. I need help with batteries and servos.

I'm using a JR652 radio and a JR R700 slimeline reciever. I'm probably going with the Hitec 605BB servos. 6 servos in the plane.

I'm thinking about running a 6.0 volt pack.

Do I HAVE to run a voltage regulator? I want the added torque of the 6.0 v pack. I don't see the point of running a 6v pack and then regulating it down to 4.8v, just to get a consistant supply to the servos. I couldn't tell the difference between 5.8v and 4.8v when it came to servo performance. Not with my naked eyes anyways.

Is it okay to run the 6v pack through this reciever? Am I going to fry the reciever if I run an unregulated 6v pack? And pull current through it for 6 high torque servos?

I'm also thinking about running a mini servo for the throttle. A hitec HS81 will do the job. Any problems with putting 6v to this servo?

I have read the other threads here about regulators and decreased run time with the 6v pack. My solution to that would be to run a larger capacity pack. Probably a 1200-1400mah pack. I might also buy a nMH pack.

I'm just not well educated in these areas, so any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Most regulators take the 5 cell pack to either 6.0 or 5.7 (some newer are turned 'down' to 5.4, I think), so the voltage advantage to speed and torque increases are still there. The setup you're considering will be fine, and the Hitec works well on 5 cell packs without regulation - I've run those that way for years. Whether or not to run NiMh or NiCd, well, the opinions on that are about as diverse as "which radio is best?"
With only 6 servos, an 1100mah pack will be MORE than adequate for an hour of flying or more...
