Default Help finding a good switch harness

Hey all,

I have been using the Futaba HD style switch harness' that came with my 9Z. Tower doesn't carry them anymore. Any suggestions on products that you have had good experience with and have quality construction?

Thanks,

Mike

Try the MPI brand of switches.
They have heavy duty wiring, a charger plug in, and comes with a silicone gasket to protect against vibration. These are the best I have seen, and I use them on all of my planes.
They also have a new switch available that has red, yellow, and green LED's on the switch to indicate battery condition.

FMA's heavy duty switch is quite good also.

I have used most of the switches available, and have had problems with most of them. The only switch that I have not had a problem with is the JR Deluxe Switch.

The only way to go in my book, and to think I prefer Futaba Transmitters.

I've had good luck with the hobbico pro hd switch harness and the JR switches. Both seem to work well.

The only switch I ever had that failed was a hobbico heavy duty switch. It was being used as the ignition switch. I don't know if vibration contributed to the failure or not.

Since then, I have only been using JR charge switches and MPI switches with no problems.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will try one of the MPI switches w/led. looks interesting. The LED seems like a handy tool. I always check my Rx voltage before flying using my 9ZWCII, this seem a little easier.

Thanks again,

Mike

I had a drawer full of brand new switches. I don't remember the brand but I am pretty sure they were hobbico from a tower sale. I plugged one in and was setting up my G-202. I had a total radio meltdown due to a wire getting crossed. That one I will take the blame for, it got pinched when the wing was put on. Melted all the wires in the system. I sent it to Futaba, got it back (what great service and very reasonable prices) and put it all back in. Grabbed a new switch from the drawer and plugged it in and damned if it didn't smoke again. That switch was bad. Can you say mad!!! Threw the rest of them in the garbage. Going to order some new ones and they won't be the same brand.

Years ago I had 2 switch failures (Futaba and Hitec). I asked around and people felt that the JR gold switch was the best. I have been using the JR switches ever since without a single problem. I still use Futaba and Hitec radio gear....but not their receiver switches.
