RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
According to the Hitec website
font="Arial"]Notice Regarding Product Delay of the Spectra 2.4 GHz Module and 7 Channel Optima Receiver:
Due to increased concerns regarding low voltage and 2.4GHz receivers, Hitec is taking some additional time to refine the “LOW VOLTAGE WARNING†Telemetry system. We sincerely apologize for the delay but it is our desire to have the best product possible when it enters the market. Expected delivery is late September.[/font]
I prefer for them to work all the bugs out before shipping them, than having problems with a new system and having to send it back.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
I was just on the Hobby People website earlier this morning and saw the great deal mentioned by bigedmustafa for the Hitec Aurora. I went to a different site to do a comparison between the Aurora, the Futaba 10C, and the JR X9303. You can see the comparison chart here:
http://www.hitecaurora.com/Comparison_Chart.pdf
It looks like the Aurora is the radio for me! When I went back to the Hobby People website, the price had climbed to $429.99. I called them to ask about the change in price, and they said that the sale price must have been a typo because they didn't show any sale price on the item. Hmmm...

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
FYI, on another web site Mike Mayberry, Hitec/Multiplex USA, posted this update today on the availability of the Hitec Aurora 9 & related modules/receivers:
"Aurora's and the Spectra 2.4 module combo w/ Optima 7 are expected to ship by the end of the month so they should be in on the shelves in early October.
Sorry for the delay, but these are extremely advanced and complex products and sometimes things don't always go as planned.
Mike."

This is a very impressive offering. I would like to be able to hold one to see how it feels. I have always been a Futaba guy, but this radio seems to just blow it away feature wise. I had been looking at the futaba 10c but the telemetry really has my interest. Also the Ball bearing supported gimbals. I would really like to feel those.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
I am still 100% Futaba and have been waiting for the right movement to upgrade from my 8U. I use a 7C for my smaller models. This radio has my interest now and this after giving the new Airtronics & Futaba offerings a closer look. I also like the ability to change/upgrade modules as technology changes and run a lipo in the TX. Computer updates is also a biggie here. The touch screen is nice and appears easy to use. It sounds like the RX's has options for powering larger scale models and the new antenna is intriguing. I also like the servo speed option and discussion in one thread regarding the potential for sequencing maybe more than one servo using a combination of flight modes and servo speed. As I get more into scale, these features appeal more to me. I also saw discussion on A123 on the TX/RX. SPC on all RX's tells me someone put some thought into the brownout issue and demands of larger models [sm=thumbs_up.gif].
My biggest question right now is there any issue in running anolog servos with the new 2.4 Rx's, such as the Hitec 645's? I also know some folks still like to use an analog servo on the throttle.
My last question is can you read the screen with polarized sunglasses? I wear prescription sunglasses so it is a minor issue.
Thanks!

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
i am also wanting to upgrade from my futaba 8u
after being a 30 year futaba only owner
i am looking at the aurora mainly due to the cost of recievers
futabas prices are rediculously high compared to other manufacturers
$140.OO for an 8 channel reciever of theirs versus $99.95 for a hitec 9 channel
thats two futaba recievers for about the same price as three hitecs
and when considering upgrading the fleet it works out to a big difference

Hey Mike,
Do you have the ability to let us know when the units actually start shipping to distributors?
If so will you drop a note on this thread?
Thanks,
John Meyer

Thanks Mike
i fly giant scale now and use 7-8 channels depending on the plane so the 9 channel is very attractive to me
and at $50.00 for a 6 channel i can afford to upgrade my older glow models as well

We are expecting them this week. Unfortunatley due to the storms in the Philippines the airport was closed for several days which delayed the shipment.

Mike,
The Aurora website says "72mhz frequency scan and select". Does the Aurora have a built in 72 mhz module and scanner?
Regards,
Brian

Some one needs to let Hitec know the Aurora is not out yet, they have a delivery date of lat Sept. Pre-ordered an Aurora in May and sold my 9303 about a month, dumb!! Been using my old DX7 since then and am really looking forward to getting this radio in.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
You will need the Spectra PRO module to operate in 72Mhz. The push was to get the 2.4Ghz system out first though so the Spectra PRO is not due until Nov/Dec.
Unfortunately we did not meet the late Sept goal, but the good new is that the Aurora's shipped out to the dealers/distributors TODAY!!!!
