Default TX Crystal or RX Crystal

How do you tell a rx crystal from a tx crystal? My wife let my nefew play around in the garage while I was at work and he got into my rc drawer and mixed up some tx and rx crystal where i had them segregated in zip lock bags. The ones with paper tags were easy but I have about a dozeb that do not have paper tags anymore. Any help?

Default TX Crystal or RX Crystal

If the tags have come of over the years and they are single conversion crystals they will be hard to work out by looking at them.

You need a known receiver or TX crystal you can just try it with and if it works you know you have the correct one.

If not, do you have access to a frequency counter or a scanner with a digital readout.

TX will be exact Frequency as marked, RX will have a 455KHZ difference from what is marked on it.

A dual conversion RX crystal will not work in the TX at all.

Good luck.

Default checking crystals on Freq counter

I have a sencore frequency counter and I tried checking my FM 27mhz channel 1 crystal on it.
the Tx reads 9.xxx mhz and the Rx doesn't read anything?

Also, I tried to use 27mhz AM on my M8 radio. they don't work.
I thought the would.?
