Cheap 2.4 w/micro receiver
Hi gang,
Im in need of a very budget friendly radio setup for a small, cheap electric plane.
Looking to buy this system:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8338&Product_Name=Hobby_King_2.4Ghz_4Ch_Tx_&_Rx_(Mode_2)
Trouble is the receiver is to big, bulky and heavy for our plane (small trainer park flyer).
So I need a micro receiver like this:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...4GHz_Receiver_
Will that receiver work with that radio? If not, what will?
Im a total noob to the 2.4 Ghz radio's. Ive been told by locals thats what I want to get. But trying to find one to fit the budget (about $50 total).
Thanks,
Ryan

RE: Cheap 2.4 w/micro receiver
NO!!
2.4 Tx's and 2.4 Modules for Tx's only work with Rx's from the same mfg. Jr/Spektrum is the only exception because JR uses Spektrum technology. There are no 3rd party 2.4 Rx's that can be used with a 2.4 Tx.
If you buy a Futaba FASST 2.4 Tx you can only use a Futaba FASST 2.4 Rx. If you buy a Futaba FASST 2.4 Module, for a JR Tx, you can only use a Futaba FASST Rx, etc.

Will a spektrum ar6000 receiver work with a losi lsr3000 radio in a car or boat? Like Bass I know little to nothing about 2.4 technology.

You cannot use surface radio gear in aircraft.

Ryan,
The Hobby King receiver that comes wuith that transmitter weighs 37 grams and appears to be just a little bigger than the servo connector in the picture beside it.
If it's like most receivers you can remove the plastic case and save several grams.

RE: Cheap 2.4 w/micro receiver
Okay let me clarify something so I'm sure that we all are on the same page. I'm not looking to fly anything. I have a Losi mini rock crawler that came with a losi lsr3000 2.4 radio & receiver. The label on the controler clearly says "Losi Radio System with Spektrum 2.4ghz DSM Technology". I realize that the Spektrum ar6000 receiver is a 6 channel made for flying type of receiver. But if I wanted to use this receiver with my radio for another car I have (yes I would only be using 2 channels) would it work since they are both Spektrum compatible? One reason I was wondering is because the ar6000 receiver is almost half as much as the one that I have in my rock crawler. I don't think I am trying to use two different makes here, but I could be wrong. Anything that would clarify this would be of help.

Thanks for the reply.
After a nights thought and a clear head we just bought the Hobby King package. The receiver claims to be only 13 grams total, thats light enough I guess. Were still under weight... Its just kinda big, I guess.
Eh. Give it a try.
I noticed the shipping weights are more. Probably due to packaging. That seems to be how the charge also.
We got hit $27.50 shipping... But the difference in price more than makes up for the extra shipping costs...
