many guys will say go the 2.4 gig radio but after talking to a guy at the field who flys jets and i,m talking twin engine powered stuff that costs $40,000 australian. the radio is has used for the last 10 years is JR 12 X PCM and JR 9X PCM . never lost a model and loves this radio. seeing you have the JR 9X , keep it as its one of the best and most powerfull transmitters on the market plus if you decide to go 2.4 gig, just buy the tx 2.4 module and matching receiver. spectrum or JR only forget the unknown name brands.

i think you will find 9 channels will be ample. the jet still has, throttle / rudder / elevator / aileron / flaps / retracts.

I had a Futaba 9CAP in a Kangaroo jet. The 9th channel was only a Switch, so it was only useful for functions that just needed to be turned On and Off. There was no Subtrim or Travel Volume on the 9th channel, as it was not Proportional.

I prefer a radio with at least 9 Proportional channels

Go for the Futaba 12FG its 12 proportional channels and two additional switched channels and the paint does not flake off the front unlike Ali's JR12.
