Default Battery "Fuel Gage"

Does anyone know of any Battery Fuel gage products out there on the market anywhere, or any electronics hobbyist know if there are any decent Fuel Gage IC's? For those that don't know what I'm talking about it's circuit that monitor voltage and current in/out and if given information on the battery can determine very acuratly the current charge condition of the battery.

Hobbico makes one for 12 volt units and 4.8 volt NiCads.
Expert makes one for 4.8 volt and 6.0 volt units.

I have used the hobbico voltwatch and I didn't find it to be very accurate. I have a few and they all read different. I don't really trust them.

This is not quite what you are after but just for interest, the new Multiplex Royal Evo transmitter has this feature built in so it tells you remaining capacity. It also monitors length of time that it is switched off and makes an allowance for normal loss of charge just sitting on the shelf since you last charged it, as well as the current used while it is switched on.

DO you need accuracy or repeatability? I want it to repeat. That is what I use it for!

Giest and Flyboy, what you're talking about is not a fuel gage, those are simple volt meters. What I'm talking about actually measures the amount of current flow into and out of the battery, monitors temperature and can calculate given the pretty well known loss rates of nimhs and nicads how much juice is really left in the battery. If the cell is in good condition they're virtually flawless at telling you what your flight time is. HarryC's Evo xmitter is closer to a fuel gage but that's just for the Evo.

Never heard of one of these. If you come across one, post it!

Lynx - Earlier Theox posted a link to another thread, which contained the following link:
http://www.digitalproductsco.com/batmon/

This sounds like what you're after.
BatMon is a radically different R/C battery monitoring system. It uses a sophisticated battery fuel gauge technology and performs mAH (milliamp hour) capacity measurements by carefully monitoring the actual current that goes in and out of your R/C system’s battery pack.

The alpha numeric display shows the battery condition as a 0-9 level or actual mAH value, all at the touch of a button. The blue colored super-bright status LED can be remotely mounted and is easily seen from several dozen yards -- perfect for fly-by battery checks
