Futaba S3801 servo
Does anyone know if the S3801 Futaba servo can be modified for 170-180 deg. opperation? I'd like to use it with a balanced sail control arm.

An adjustment could be made as per links below. However bear in mind that Futaba do state the optimum swing for that servo is only 125 degrees, thereafter you will lose resolution etc., and a separate new pot may be required.
Much depends upon size sail to be controlled and many sailors are now using the new programmable digital servos, e.g. Hitec HS-5745 and later versions, dialling in the exact swing and failsafe as required independant of the transmitter so they can also be used with simple 2ch Tx, refer picture.
Digitals are easier, more powerful and prices are becoming cheaper than hacking older analogue servos and can be ordered from most LHS pre-set to settings required or cheap PC based programers are now readily available..
Further information under sub section
"Servo - Modify for Retracts, Swing, Number of Turns, Ganging, Reverse & Continuous Rotation "under
examples:
Servo - Modify for 180 degree rotation
Servo - Modify for 360 degree rotatation
