72MHz RX antenna cut short ?
Hi,
the antenna wire on my Futaba R148DF was cut short after a plane mishap. It is now about 1 1/4" shorter than the original length.
Is it still safe to fly, or will this put the setup out of tune.
Receiver is 72MHz low (channel 30).

The effect will be quite small. An antenna length of 39 to 41 inches is the usual length but an inch or two either way has little effect, a very slight reduction in range. You could always solder a wire of the missing length to the end of the present one, a solder joint will not effect the results.

Thank you for the quick reply. I may solder the missing lenght. Does the wire gauge matter? I may not have the exact same wire gauge.
