Broken TX Antenna!
Hi
I just broken my Futaba SkySport Transmetter antenna ..
I replaced it with a radio antenna that came a little bit shortter
the plane flys at a good distance so far .. But I have been told that I must get the EXACT antenna length.. not even taller!
is that right ?? and what do u recommend guys ?

AbuAnas,
If it is just a little short and your range check works good, than I guess you are OK. Anyway, a replacement futaba antenna does not cost that much if this has got you worried.

Strictly speaking from an electronics standpoint, you should replace it with the EXACT same length. The length of the antenna is designed to create optimum output, and if you go slightly (1 or 2 inches) shorter or longer, your radiated power will be reduced, and more of the signal will be reflected back into the transmitter electronics.
You probably won't see the difference during a range check with collapsed antenna, since the collapsed antenna length will be almost identical between the two.

Any RC supply company which can sell Futaba equipment can sell you a proper replacement. If they don't have it in stock, they can order it. Online, you can order it here: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0093p?&C=MZA

Had them stepped on... snapped them while collapsing them... poked other modelers by accident... etc.
The final straw? Got it tangled in my hi-start line... launched the sailplane, then the TX. Broke *everything*
