Default JR Galaxy PCM8 Question????

I have a JR Galaxy PCM8 in unbelievable great shape and have a question...
The Book do say:
Only the Galaxy PCM reciever can be used with this radio...because of the CPU's..
This radio came from Circus Hobbies, a few moons ago.

Anyone know if this is still true or can it be sent back and updated, or be able use another style of JR PCM reciever?

Any help would be much appreciated..

Thanks

Default JR Galaxy

I have a Galaxy that I don't use any more. At the time, it was the first computer radio. JR also had a 9 channel PCM and, I believe, a Century 7 PCM. The Galaxy wasn't compatible with the 9 or the 7. I next bought a PCM 10 and an 8103. I have used the modules and receivers from the Galaxy with both these radios with no problems. Your Galaxy should be OK, but to be sure, why don't you contact Horizon Services and ask them. You also might find someone else who has a JR PCM receiver and module and ask him to try them.

I seem to recall JR made, or converted, a few Galaxys that could be used with JR 9-channel PCMs. I may be wrong on this, it was a long time ago.

Default JR Galaxy PCM8 Question????

Thanks for your reply...
This was kind of my line of thinking...

The TX and RX's are in such good condition that I figured that I'd finish wearing them out and go from their...

Trying it with another RX sounds like a great idea...just have to find someom in the club with another PCM reciever on the same channel...

Thanks,

Default Galaxy

If anyone else has a newer JR PCM, his radio would also have a module so you could use both his module, for the frequency, and his receiver.

One other point, the Galaxy is on what JR calls Z-PCM, which is the 512, as opposed to the newer S-PCM or 1024.
