I have had a 7CAP, 9CAP, 9CHPSuper, and a 2.4 dedicated 10CAG. Loved all of them. I like the 10CAG best of all. Easy to program, very responsive, etc. I kept my 9CAP with a synthesizer for 72MHz on any channel. I'm sold on Futaba.

I'm using the 10CAG an I love it too. The radio is phenominal.

In fact, I just reviewed the new User's Guide for the 10C by AnnMarie Cross (review was just turned in and not published yet, by keep your eye on RCU Magazine as it should go live within the next few weeks). After reading the User's guide I am really blown away by the 10C's capability!

I also bought one as a step up from the 7c 2.4. I really like the radio but the programing was a little different from the 7c. I assumed the 10c would be the same programing as the 7c but learned it was taken from the 9c which was different. One example was that the 7c allowed expo all the time and not hooked to any switch. The 10c needs to be on a switch so for me I ended up programing a switch with the same expo rates no matter what position the switch was in. I don't use different rates and worried I would have the switch in the wrong position thus changing my expo rates. Other then a little relearning with the programing it is a very nice radio and a real step up from the 7c. Makes the 7c look like a toy.

I love my 10CAG. I went FASST for my big gassers. Programs just like my 9C. I kept my 9C Super and run Spektrum 2.4 module on it for foamies and other small stuff. The Spektrum 3.5 gram 6 CH receivers are nice.

What I really like over its predicessor (the 10CAP) is that you can switch between 10ch and 7ch so I don't need a module to use my smaller receivers.

I'm thinking about switching to Futaba from JR. Right now I have an x9303 TX. One thing I like about it is the "servo slow" function. Makes for scale-looking flap extension/retraction, and for smooth application of brakes. Does the 10CG have this same feature?

I am new to helis and planes (a long time car/truck guy) and I picked up this Futaba 10 CHG radio in preperation of buying a heli soon.  I bought a comination 10 CHG Tx and R6014HS 14 channel Rx and I have noticed that it says in 7 channel mode it is only compatible with certain receivers and the R6014HS isn't one of them. Does this mean that I need to buy a different receiver since I won't be using all 10 channels (even though the receiver is a 14 channel receiver)? Or is this just for compatibility issues for when you are using different aircraft and switching between receivers?

Your combination will work just fine. The lower channel count receivers (7 and less) run in 7 channel mode while the 8+ channel receivers run in multi-mode. your 10CG will work with both. You select the mode in the frequency section.

Thanks Doug! I was at SuperJet South the past couple of days and had the chance to look at a lot of setups and ask a lot of questions. Got home and just said the heck with it...time to spring for a good 12-channel radio and be done with it, like I should have done instead of the x9303. Looking forward to being in the FASST lane!

Minnflyer........lots of info about transmitters out there. Looking to purchase a new 2.4 Hz Futaba FAAST:

I intend to fly: air only / no helicopters and mode two.

My new project will require: 2 servos ailerons
2 " rudders
2 " elevator
1 " flap
1 " brake
1 " retract
1 " steering

Adds up to 10 (ea) servos.

Which Futaba would you recommend? And if I'm going to spend this much money, should I get the 12 channel?

Your 2 cents please.

Thank you

M0f0

If you can afford the 12FG, then that's all you will ever need. It's actually a 14 channel radio (12+2) and with the MPDX-1 units you can get up to 24 proportional channels.

But for that setup you can use the 10C, it comes with a 14 channel receiver and you can put the brakes and retract gear on the 2 on/off channels (the 10C is 8+2).

m0f0, while your setup requires 10 servos, it only requires 7 channels (6 if the steering can be put on the rudder channel)

Now you may prefer to put the ailerons and/or elevators on separate channels, but there's no reason to put two rudder servos on two channels, so with your setup, 8 or 9 channels is all you will need. So the 10CG is ideal.

Now, IF you ever plan to do bigger things in the future, you may want to take Doug's advice
