Default JR Radio crystals. Red/black? Confused on how to buy

Hello there!

I have a JR R1/R330 SPCM kit.
I run on channel 3 right now (27.095 I think).

I want to get some other frequency because too many people run on #3 locally.

Only.. what are the specifications of this crystal?

I havent paid it much thought until recently.
I was looking at the crystal exchange/wtb/sell forum and there was a whole lot of talk about crystal case colors etc that I didnt understand.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Ram

With JR rx xtals, the red cover means it is a dual conversion xtal.

I'm a bit new to this too but I believe that dual conversion RXs process the signal twice or use two separate crystals to process twice. Many people on here say that if you really value your bird...use dual conversion. I use a single and have had no problems to date(knock on wood).

All JR rx xtals are grey, except the dual conversion ones, which are red. Since you are using 330, you won't have to worry about dual conversion. The only dual conversion rx JR makes is the 945, which replaced the 940. Make sure you keep using grey xtals in your 330. Good luck on finding a good channel on 27mhz. Not a whole lot to choose from.
