Default Servo mounted on firewall Pro's & Con's

I'm considering mounting the throttle servo on the firewall of my plane. I've never done this before but have heard of it before and was wondering what the advantage's or disadvantages are of this type of setup.

With mounting the servo so close to the engine, do I run a significant risk of vibration or heat causing a problem with the servos operation?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I've only heard of problems doing that when using a gas motor. The ignition can cause interference.

And be sure you can get at it easily. If you ever have a servo failure and you have to take the whole front end apart to get to your servo... It kinda cuts down on the day's flying activities :P

If it is a gasser, I wouldn't, if it is a nitro, it will get messy. I would think the vibration might eat it faster, but don't knot that for sure. Just a hunch.

Vibration depends on how you mount it...

I have one mounted on the firewall (outside) on my UCD and another mounted directly on the engine mount of my Funtana. Both servos are micros and mounted using rubber grommets so they are isolated. So far both work fine. I am doing it as a trial because it's sooo easy to mount them and set up the linkage which is all of 4 inches long But as said earlier, vibration might get them in the long run

Thanks for the information everyone, I'm going to give it a try. The easy of setup sounds so appealing.
