"do I still put the plug from the ESC into channel three" Given that you have a Futaba TXor a Hitec TX or clones thereof yes, otherwise refer TXmanual for correct order on RXports, this if you want to operate the throttle with your throttle stick.<dt>Receiver - Channel Assignments, which to use as determined by different brands of TX </dt>ESCmust be plugged into the throttle channel ,which varies acording to the brand of TX.
The "UBEC"a <span style="font-size: smaller">brand name</span> or any other similar "Switch Mode Regulator" can be plugged itno any other spare channel or Y with a servo.
