Standard servos
 

In your experience is a ball raced servo I.E NES 537 worth the extra 30% in cost compared to a NES 577 standard servo? I'm asking regarding sport flying, or should i spend the extra money on more fuel?

I like the 537 servo. It's not the fastest, nor strongest servo available, but they are reliable and fairly smooth. But, I don't buy them. At least, not with the ball bearing installed. Instead, I buy non ball bearing servos and install aftermarket ball bearings in them. You'll save a few $$'s per servo and end up with the exact same performance if you had bought the bearing already installed.

Thanks John. How easy would it be to put bearings in a 577? I need to get a bunch of servo's for my GP RV-4 and am not sure what to get. I would get the bearing servos if I thought they were better but looking at the specs the 537 has less torque and speed than the 577.

All my bushing standard servos are going strong after years of use. I don't think you'll have a problem with their longetivity on the RV-4. You can always buy the bushing version now and install bearings down the road. It is very easy to open a servo and replace the gears (or bearings).
