MotionRC, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!
 

Not surprising that there are many varied reviews of MotionRC. They are a notch above HobbyKing in terms of their EDF Freewing planes. However this doesn't keep them from selling crappy batteries and electronics. Most of that credit probably needs to go to Freewing.

I've purchased and flown just about every Freewing EDF with the exception of the F15 and ME 262. I love all of them with the exception of two EDFs.

1. The Scorpion 80mm has a tendency to tip stall at slow speed. Drop the flaps, slow down for a landing and be prepared for the tip stall!
2. The F18 90mm won't get off the ground w/o the thrust vectors turned on.

3. I've had a HobbyWing gyro burn up during setup. Strange thing was that after I pulled the power and the smoke cleared the gyro still worked. I've never seen a piece of electronics continue to work after giving up its magic smoke! Better on the bench than in the air!

4. I've received at least two Admiral 6s 5000 mAh Lipos that were DOA. Another two 6s 5000 mAh Lipos that died w/o a good reason after 6 months and less than 12 flights.

5. Freewing/MotionRC setup instructions/specs are a joke! Example: If you buy a Eurofighter today the paper setup instructions will be INCORRECT as far as the directions of the canards are concerned. No paper addendum noting the mistake. The MotionRC guy that made the marketing video still thinks the paper instructions are correct DESPITE the fact that a corrected (corrected in 2014) PDF instruction set is available for download on the MotionRC website which CORRECTLY shows the canard setup. MotionRC/Freewing can't find the time or money to print a SINGLE SHEET ADDENDUM in FOUR YEARS??? Somebody explain this one to me...

With this said let me also add that I LOVE the way the Eurofighter flies when you set it up CORRECTLY.
