Hitec & Futaba Servo Arms:

Hi Guys,

Over the 45 years in this Hobby/Sport I have acquired a lot of parts. I have a lot of Hitec and Futaba Servos and Servo arms.

My Question:

I Prefer Hitec servos over the Futaba and I depend on them especially for racing Q-500. However my parts box got dropped and it literally exploded when it hit the floor. All of my Hitec and Futaba Servo Arms got mixed up together. Now I have approximately 100 different servo arms mixed up in a plastic tub. How can I tell them apart, since it is my understanding that Hitec servo arms can only be used on Hitec servos and Futaba servo arms can only be used on Futaba servos?

Please advise?

Thanks a Bunch

Eddie

Hitec and Futaba have different spline tooth counts.

Hitec is 25 and Futaba uses 24

So if they don't feel like they fit right its probably the wrong arm.

So then there are NO markings on them in any way to distinguish them from each other?

Thanks

I think that spline count is backwards. Hitec is 24 and Futaba is 25. Newer Hitec servos now use the more universal 25 spline arms like Futaba.

As BH said, just fit the arms to the various servos. If they are not a match, it should be fairly obvious. Futaba and Hitec arms have quite different appearances also. Metal arms are usually stamped F or H, etc.

Hitec analog servos and Hitec 5XXX and 7XXX digital series are all 24T splines. Hitec 8XXX, 9XXX, and D-Series servos are all 25T.

Some Hitec micro and mini servos will have their own proprietary spline sizes.

That would be a negative.
