XP6102 troubles

I waited 2 years to afford to buy a computer radio system and chose a JR XP6102. After using the radio 5 times and charging it twice the radio would not turn on today. So it is off to JR's Horizon Service Center and I probably will be without a radio for awhile. I have a JR Quattro that I can borrow from a friend. I'm pretty upset! Has anyone else had problems with this radio?

I am not sure about the 6102, but you may have blown the fuse.

I thought that at first but there is no reference in the manual to a fuse nor any button on the radio that would be a reset.

They never tell you about the fuse.
Take the battery out and see if you can see one. or take the back cover off.

I've been flying my 6102 a lot this season. No issues, good radio.[sm=thumbup.gif]

I'm also thinking fuse.... do you own another brand of radio/charger? The charging jack is the same but, polarity is reverse of other brands....

Just got back from the LHS where I purchased the radio. We took the back off the radio and the fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse and the new one blew. Tried this 2 more times after replacing the battery and everytime the fuse blew. The radio is being sent back to the factory. It will be 2 to 3 weeks before I get it back.:(

Sorry to hear that, sounds like a direct short, perhaps in the charging jack...[:o]

Our turn around time is in the range of 5-7 business days, so you will not be without your system for an extended period of time.

RE: XP6102 troubles

I got the call from the H.S. yesterday that my radio was in. The problem was a half blown diode in the power circuit. It took a lttle over 2 weeks, pretty much what I expected. While in for repairs the radio was given a modification that allows the tx battery to be cycled through the charge jack. Can someone explain this "cycling" to me?

RE: XP6102 troubles

Cycling the battery allows you to charge and discharge the battery without removing it from the transmitter. This is a feature peculiar to the US market. The norm is for the set to be fitted with protection diodes to prevent incorrect charging and/or incorrect battery fitting. But with these diodes fitted, the semi-automatic chargers cannot detect the battery charge correctly.

Apparantly JR in Japan issued sets to the US distributors with these diodes fitted. Horizon are therefore converting the sets that come back to the US norm.

Does this clarify the situation ?
