HITEC HS5245's - ANY GOOD ??

I need 4 servos for the ailerons on a bipe and they have to be fairly narrow in depth. I have some 225MG's that I can use but I haven't been satisfied with the centering of them on other planes. Are the 5245's any better ? How much more power do they need ? Any other pros or cons ? Any other ideas ?

Its been my experience that the 52xx servos are sensitive to the amplitude of the input pulse. They will not be happy with any reduction in its amplitude caused by connectors or long input leads. Be sure to check them out carefully and avoid y connectors if possible.
Digital servo amplifiers used in the 52xx servos will improve centering.

With 4 servos I'll have to use a Y connector somewhere or should I use a JR Matchbox, would that help ?

I wouldn't put a matchbox in there. There are a lot more things that can fail in a matchbox than in a y connector.
I said avoid y connectors where possible. If you have to use one use it. Just make sure that it works OK with it.
I had a y connector that gave me problems but when I put another in it worked OK. Once it works - it won't stop later unless you store it for a long period. Then you should recheck it

I liked it better 20 years ago when you had about 1 or 2 ways you could do something and that was that. Now you've got digital, non digital, coreless, non coreless, 2 batteries, 2 switches, redundant this, redundant that, this whole technology thing is driving me crazy.[&o][&o][&o]
