Futaba R138DF Problems
I recently bought two brand new Futaba R138DF Rxs from the UK for testing out radio setup in my more expensive models before going to PCM. Both give out trouble: servo jitter appears at about 15 paces (or ~45 feet/15m) while range-checking. I have gone through every test permutation imaginable: unplugging servos one-by-one, changing Xtals, deleting the swith, removing extensions, using different transmitter, testing on a different airframe, using different frequencies, testing on two different locations, the lot. I ended up checking just the Rx on the bench with only one servo and the Rx battery connected directly to it. No luck, the single servo starts jiterring at 40' .
Testing an R149DP gave no jitters (of course, PCM would filter them out...), but also a massive 350feet of ground range, antenna collapsed. I have come to the conclusion that the R138DF model receivers must both be at fault. Has anyone from the UK experienced similar persistent problems with R138DFs recently?? It could be possible that a bad/untuned batch may have been imported... Low Quality Control is not impossible, considering they are bulk-order items and sell for just 42 quid. |
RE: Futaba R138DF Problems
I have a R138DP in my Cap and get a range test of about 100 feet with my 9C.
Never heard of the 138 in a DF mode |
RE: Futaba R138DF Problems
Yeah, it is the standard baseline "cheap" Dual Conversion FM Rx of Futaba for all their 8-channel and upwards systems. Probably the most popular D/C model.

RE: Futaba R138DF Problems
The Futaba R138DF receiver is not imported into North America.
