27mhz range increase with CB stuff????

i bought a 1/24 scale tank so i could mount a wireless night vision camera so i could drive it around the back yard at night and see whats been running around out backyard at night. and then shoot BBs at it! the range of the tank is about 200 feet but we have 8 acres and no neighbors so i'd like to increase the range. I'm hoping i could use some CB equipment to extend the range significantly. i found a 25 watt amp in france for about 20 bucks
http://www.jr-international.fr/modul...e&itm_ref=8174
but i don't know what connections it has on it.
during my research i've found that the ideal antenna length for 27mhz is 17feet for a half wavelenth and 5/8 wavelenth is even more efficient. but those all use a COAX connection and i'm unsure hot to connect them.

If anyone has info to help me increase the range significantly with CB or any other mods i'd appriciate it

What you are proposing is illegal unless you are in Iraq.

Interesting concept on the battle tanks.

You don't need to buy linears from France. Walk into any hole-in-the-wall CB shop along side any Interstate and ask for one. You'll have to talk the right talk or else the shop owner won't pull one from under the counter. ;) Mix in a few colorful metaphors in with your speech and you'll do allright. Still, it's illegal and those outlaw linears, not being regulated by the FCC, are usually so dirty that the claimed 25w might have only 10% of it inside the 27MHz band. The rest is all out of band spurious emissions. I would recommend highly against it.

Okay, instead of buying a linear, pick up a 1/4 wave whip while you're at the CB shop. Just having a higher gain antenna than that piss-ant telescoping whip on the TX might be enough to boost range to cover what you want.

Using less than one watt of power will cover more than a mile, line of site. I agree with the post in regard to a better antenna. 25 watts, not needed.

ok, perhaps thats a bit expensive, and overpowered. but how about this small kit, http://store.qkits.com/moreinfo.cfm/K2622 its almost the same price and shipping is a bit outragous but it claims 22db and can accept coax and therefore better antennas like this

anyone interested in the tanks go to airsoft128.com 2 tanks for 100 bucks, 10% coupon over 100 bucks... the only problem with the tanks are the weak motors. size 280 EXACTLY... the orion big block out of my RS4 wouldn't fit. anyone know of a good upgrade 280?

and here is the 800mw camera i got

That amplifier is only for receiving. It doesn't amplify the transmitted signal. And I highly suspect those antennas are 102 foot long(basicaly a G5RV).

Hello! I did something very similar with a 27mhz Nikko hummer, just a cheap little $20 r/c car. Come to find out my camera range is much farther than the range of my hummers controller. Is there a way to boost the transmitting range of a Nikko controller, all I need is a range of about 300ft. I can out up some pics of the controller's circuit board if needed. Please let me know, thanks!

You should pick yourself up a nice 18' [link=http://wholesalecbradio.com/SOLARCONBASEANTENNAS.htm]Antron 99[/link] base antenna and mount that sucker to your chimney. That might work.
