JR transmitter with Futaba receivers

Hi Guys,
I have only been in the hobby a few years and use basic 4 and 6 channel Futaba trasmitters and R127DF-7 receivers. I want to up grade and my buddy has a fancy computorized 10 channel JR trasmitter he will sell me. This one has the modules in the back that you can change for different feqs. My question is this, can I use the JR transmitter with my cheap Futaba receivers and equipment?
What do the terms PCM refer to, do you need PCM receivers to work with this set-up?
thanks ,
Frank

RE: JR transmitter with Futaba receivers

No they wont work and no you don't need PCM although some believe the pcm recievers are worth the extra cost.
Futaba recievers use negative shift, JR uses positive shift.

If that particular transmitter is shift selectable you may be able to use them but it depends on the exact model of the transmitter.
