JR Recievers with Futaba Crystal question

Hi, Im thinking about buying a 40% Giles. I really want it. It comes with 2 JR PCM recievers without crystals. I use futaba gear in most of my stuff and my transmitter I use is the futaba 9C. The recievers in the plane are low band and thats what my transmitter is. If I get 2 futaba crysyals and put them in those JR recievers and use my 9C radio, will it work?? Or do I need JR crystals? I perfer futaba.
Thanks
PT

RE: JR Recievers with Futaba Crystal question

No it will not work on several counts. All JR Rx's are positive modulation shift only and All Futaba Tx's sold orignally in the north American market are negative modulation shift only. Tx's and Rx.s to be compatiable must both be of the same modulation shift. Futaba and Jr equipment are not shift selectable.

Also when using PCM modulation type there is no interbrand compatability between brands. All PCM systems are proprierory and will only function with their matched brand Tx or Rx. There are some older PCM systems with some brands that are not compatable with even their own brand.

Among the four major manufacturers never use another brands crystal in the Rx. Not all brands crystals are cut the same.

The hi/band lo/band thing only applies to Futaba Rx's the other three majors do not have this issue and it is due to the way Futaba tunes their Rx for either the upper or lower half of the band rather than center tunning for the entire band.
