Compare Digital Servos to Standard

Can anyone give me a good explanation of the differences between digital servos to standard servos (other than price....hehe)? I recently received a set of Futaba S3151 Digitals for Christmas and have 2 planes sitting in my basement that both need radio and servo installs. Also sitting in my basement is a set of standard Futaba S3004 BB servos. Depending on the strengths/weaknesses of the digitals (are there even any weaknesses?) compared to the standards will dictate what set of servos goes in what aircraft. Thanks a lot!!!

Check out this pdf-document:

I think that will answer your questions.

The pluses are centering consistency, reach rated torque alot faster in the arc than analogs and hold it there. The downsides are cost and increased battery consumption. That PDF is great though.

Bottom line for sport flying its no big deal, and the 3151s while digital are sport servos. Its when you get into demanding applications like helicopters, 3D flying etc that the digitals really shine.
