Now that the new products are announced from Spektrum--what will become of the spectrumulating about other spread spectrum innovators .
Is there going to be a competitive product?
The Futaba FAAST approach seems to have produced the enthused acceptance of a stray hound.
So that leaves -- who??

I have heard that Spektrum, Horizon Hobby, etc, will NOT be at WRAM, but will announce the modules at Toledo, but I could be wrong.

They are not listed as an exhibitor on the WRAM web site.

I was wrong once back in 1957, so this would make 2 times....

I did a little reading on the Futaba vs. Spektrum systems.

Looks like Futaba uses "frequency hopping" where the output frequency changes every 2 ms (thats 2 milliseconds)

The receiver is programmed to keep up with the transmitted signal shift.

Spektrum uses a pair of frequencies chosen at startup time to be "unused" and sticks with them.

Both methods are perfectly common for use in systems such as guidance, data transmission, etc.

It's only another "BETA vs VHS" (anyone remember those?)

Or "Positive on the center pin vs Negative on the center pin" for transmitter chargers.

I may come down to Price Point as to which one emerges as the dominant system.

In any case either syster offers more than our traditional systems.. not a bad thing.
