JR12x on 72mhz?
So I understand that Horizon won't be bringing in the 12x with 72mhz so I ask, is there anywhere else in the world that operates at this frequency? It would be nice to buy from somewhere else and just have the 72mhz 12x imported. Why would I not want 2.4ghz you ask? Has nothing to do with channel conflicts but rather that the 2.4ghz doesn't work in carbon fiber fuselages. Please don't say, "well don't use a carbon fuse." That is not fixing the problem, only going around it. -Steve

hahahaha okay I am dumb, Japan does and will offer it. www.ishiimokei.com (which if you are a heli guy you know about) has the JR12x transmitter only for Y107,300 which is $880 USD as an intro price. By the time you are done paying it would be about $1000 to get it to the states. My guess is that horizon will have the 2.4ghz for $800 tx only just like the 10x was so I would have to pay a premium. Well there you go I answered my own question! -Steve

Be aware that the number of Japanese 72 MHz channels are much fewer than the number of US 72 MHz channels. !!

2.4ghz works just fine in carbon fuse's. I have seen a AR 7000 in a all carbon competition saild plane and small holes were drilled and the wires ran out of it and the link was as good as it can get. A local flyer has a 40% Composite-ARF wtih a DX7 and AR7000 and it is in the middle of the fuse around carbon everywhere and it is flawless and has been since day one. Nothing done except strapping it in there.
Who ever told you carbon and 2.4 won't work hast old you a lie. If you want the answer from the horses mouth and not internet babble them e-mail Paul Beard direct the inventer of 2.4ghz for Spektrum. Let em shed a little light on this subject for you. We have tested and flown the AR7000 and AR9000 receivers in solid carbon fuselages with no issues at all. Chris Huhn is currently flying a BVM Ultra Bandit that is all carbon and he flies it with the JR 9303 2.4 system. I really don't think you need to worry about that. But if you still feel the need for 72Mhz, then no need to worry. Horizon will be bringing in the 12X on 72Mhz and 2.4Ghz. Both will be offered, not just one. we understand not everyone wants to change over. We are covering both bases for those that would like a 72 mhz radio. Hope this helps. |

Oh man that is great news! thank you so much! So why is there a very extensive thread about the 2.4ghz issues with solid carbon fuses then? I read all of it and it really appears to be a major issue. -Steve

Look, there really IS an issue with 2.4GHz in carbon fuselages. It is entirely possible to get around it, but don't go saying there's no issue. I went and measured the attenuation of a carbon MiniBlade's fuse, it was over 20dB. In other words, a 100x range reduction. So, it is absolutely necessary to get the receiver picking up signal from outside. If the wings and tail are carbon as well, it may be necessary to get the antennas widely dispersed over the outside of the model. I have this feeling people commenting saying that the 2.4ghz works just fine have seen someone else with a 2.4ghz in an all carbon ship but with some mod that either they aren't mentioning or they just didn't know about. Why would there be that massive thread on RCG if everything was all hunky dory? -Steve

Its a totally new module. The synth & RF Amp will be in the module, but the actual frequency selection is done within the radio. Think of the 7202 with the RF board in a module case. |

I suppose that would be upto Horizon. If there is a quantifiable number of orders then I would imagine that HH will ask JR to manufacture so many 50 MHz modules. But if that number is so small, it may not be economically viable to manufacture. You would need to speak to HH. |
