Airtronics RD 8000

Hello to all the radio guru's out there. I have an RD 8000 Airtronics radio in an Extral 330L gasser and i'm wondering if anyone else out there has set up one of these radios the way i have and if they have experienced the same issues. i'm using 5 futaba S3001 Servos for ailerons elevator and throttle and one large Futaba S5301 servo for the rudder. On a Futaba FP-R127DF Dual Conversion RX. My issue is i'm trying to add another servo function for the throttle ignition cut off switch. I have two Jr servos and was trying to add one on channel 8 or 5 for the throttle cut off switch. According to the Manual a Y harness is used to use channel 8. so i tried this on that channel. Channel 8 is also the slot for the battery to plug into. So i connected the Y harness to this slot and battery to the y harness and a jr servo i had planned to use. and the servo did nothing when the AUX2 switch is moved is it the servo i'm using? Do i need to get a futaba servo?
So then i tried channel 5 only other free slot avaliable in the RX which is the Gear retract channel according to the manual. same thing nothing happens IS there something i'm missing did i fail to activate something in th TX? Just want to add one more servo for the throttle cut switch. Maybe the throttle cut switch is not neccessary for the ignition system but i've heard it is a good safetly feature to have. I realize i can use the throttle cut button on the TX to cut the throttle off and kill the engine. But i've heard form alot of people that on a big gas plane that uses an electronic ignition it is a good idea to have that feature too.
Well any advise would be appriciated on this radio system hard to say if this is the correct forum for this issue but thought i should give it a try thanks:)

Well i can see one problem that is evident now and that is i have a 7 channel receiver with a 8 channel radio so this may be my problem for one. But i still would think that the channel 5 would work. It may be that my receiver that i got with the flight pack i ordered is incompatiable with the radio too. Still anyone with Some good advise on this particualr radio system would be good to hear.
