Extending battery leads
 

I need to mount a rx battery back in the fuse of a Goldberg Extra to get it to balance without adding any extra weight. So, should I just use some heavier gauge wire and solder an extension into the middle of the existing wire (don't think I've seen any battery extensions anywhere, and the servo extensions look like the wire is too light) ? Also, what kind of interference problem could I be running into? The antenna will be running in the same area, but outside the fuse.

Basically the rule of thumb for longer leads is 22 guage 60 strand wire. Some of the guys here use the Radio Shack wire which is not 60 strand. Although they have used it with success, I can't bring myself to do it. This is just my opinion.

I also twist my leads the best I can if they are not already. Just do it and range test. After you fly a couple of times you'll be more comfortable. I understand the apprehension though :cool:

Extending battery leads
 

If you feel comfortable with your soldering skills, go ahead and splice in the lenght that you need. Be sure and use heat shrink tubing and stagger your splices so you do not have a big clump of splices at one point. Sounds as if you have a basic setup with standard servos, so I doubt you would need the heavier wire, but this depends on the distance you are placing the battery.
