voltwatch question
i was reading the description on towerhobbies.com about it and it had this in the comments: "ADDITONAL NOTE: This is for 4.8V NiCd packs only! NO NiMH!" exactly how bad is it to use a NiMH pack? will it still read correct or would it be all messed up?

voltwatch question
There's no reason why it shouldn't work on a 4.8V NiMH. Those Tower comments aren't always correct. I've had a few of them corrected by Tower for technical and other errors.

voltwatch question
It should work OK with either NiCd or NiMh. But only 4-cell packs. It will not work with a 6.0 volt pack. There are other similar products that work with 6.0 volt packs.
I have a voltwatch and it works great. |
voltwatch question
The reason the Voltwatch is not recommended for NiMh batteries is because of the way they discharge at the end of a cycle. A NiCd tends to taper off at the end of a charge, whereas a NiMh battery drops off much more rapidly. So, if you have a Voltwatch on a NiMh battery it may show a good charge when you take off, giving you a false sense of security even though it is near the end of it's charge. Then you'll be flying along all happy and suddenly your battery goes dead.

I always thought it was because my packs were that much better. Thanks for the input.
