Long & Skinny Hitec Servo arms
Hi,
I'm building the Hangar 9 Spitfire and I'm at the part where you install the aileron servos. I'm using a Hitec HS-325HB servo. The servo is attached to a hatch door to conceal the servo. The arm must be long enough to go through a slot in the hatch and then attach to the quick connector. The only servo arm (that I have) long enough is the adjustable one with the bracket. However, there's too much play for me to justify using this type of servo arm. Does anyone know if the Hitec horn #26 or 28 would work? Thefollowing may assist: Servo - Horn arm Spline Count and Inter Brand Compatibility Hitec (Apollo & old Ace Giant are prior name change toHitec) = Feather HS35, 45, HS-50 & HS-55 = 16 Spline Servo Horn. Micro - HS-56HB only = 23 Spline Micro Horn & Hardware Set for HS60, HS81 & HS85 = 24 spline Micro - HS-65HB & HS-65MG = 25 spline [Futaba 25 spline shafts (& horns) have a larger diameter] Standard Hitec Servo = 24 spline Mega Horn & Hardware set for HS-805BB+ & 815BB = 15 spline. Alan always, and I mean always gives good advice:):) However, I would never use the adjustable servo arm on a control surface. It is just to easy for the screw to eventually get a little loose and then the arm start moving.

Maybe one of the SECRAFT arms will work for you. http://www.secraft.net They are made in Korea but have a US distributer http://www.secraftusa.com ships fast. (in my experience) They seem well made.
They are well made, but remember as Alan wrote not all Hitec Servos have the same splines. |
