Newbee Crystal Problems

I'm trying to set up a hitec shift selectable receiver to work with my jr xp652 TX and I don't have crystals for either of them. What crystals do I need to get....ie...will a Hitec TX crystal work in the JR tx.

I also have aquired a GWS Tx crystal. Will this work with the JR?

I'm just not sure how all this works yet.

Thanks

Although there is a slight chance it MAY work, it probably won't. Even if it seems to work, it most likely will not be properly tuned. You should always use the same brand of crystal as the equipment it is inserted into.

In North America it is illegal to swap transmitter crystals (on 72Mhz) without sending the Tx to a service center for tuning. Therefore, your radio should have come with one, unless it utilizes frequency modules (I am unfamiliar with JR by model #s).

You also need a Hitec crystal for the receiver on the same channel as the Tx.

well, I bought the TX on e-bay recently and it didn't come with a crystal so I was going to try to buy one for it. Didn't know it was illegal to do that. Now I know.
Thanks for the info.

Sorry to hear the seller didn't give you all the info. Now you need to send it in to a service center for tuning to a channel of your choice. Even if Tx crystal swapping wasn't illegal, I would still recommend having it tuned by a service center to ensure it is properly tuned (for saftey's sake).
