RCU Forums - FYI Using the FMA RFD1 Replacement RF Deck in units other than ACE.

This is the reply to an e-mail I sent to FMA reguarding the use of their RFD1 RF Deck (direct replacement for ACE transmitters) in my Pro Line transmitter:

"Dear Sir:

I have been in contact with some customers that have had success installing the RFD1 in Pro Line transmitters. Others have had problems. We suspect the problems are due to the age of these units and the fact that the encoders are not set up properly or have changed settings over time. At any rate, due to the level of technical support that has been required to support the small demand for the RFD1 used in these sytems, we have recently implemented a new policy regarding the use of the RFD1. As of now, FMA will not officially support the use of the RFD1 in any transmitters other than original ACE labeled products as follows:

Micro Pro 8000
Silver Seven
Oly 5
Nautical Commanders

From a technical standpoint, there is no reason the module should not work in the old Pro Line, Kraft, et al transmitters out there; however, in keeping with the new policy, all sales of the RFD1 to customers utilizing non-ACE equipment listed above will be sold on a "no-returns" basis and technical support will not be available through FMA, Inc. for such applications.
