RE: CT Racing......Now Open.....
Yo Rich and Mark...you got mail.. Looking for a nicely set up Associated 18B..i have my eye on one for sale but I would like to trade it for my nitro Smartech which needs a radio/receiver.
I found one used once (supposedly) with 5 nimh, no radio/receiver, mamba 8000 setup and steering servo for 200. I have a radio on the way so I would like to have a nice 1/18 to run at Fairfield or when nitro gets "cranky".
Any of you boys have something to trade or sell? I know Rich was considering my truck, if you are still interested let me know or I may try to trade it up.
Mark, i know you had something available a few weeks back, I don't need lipo/brushless necesarily but that setup i spoke about for 200 asking seemed sweet enough. I can drive well once I get used to the power plus I could program it up.
What do you think?

RE: CT Racing......Now Open.....
What post are we referring to here? I only reference items I already own or RCU's own marketplace. I posted for advice on an existing thread/marketplace item. I wasn't selling anything. I don't get it. I saw an RC18B for sale HERE and asked friends of mine what I should do. How is that breaking rules? I can't ask a local friend if they have a car to sell outside of RCU? Is that what the problem was?

Ok, setting up the RC18B Factory Team Kit.
Put in the digital metal geared servo last night, had to order an HPI servo saver to fit, may go with the X-ray down the line, thats $$$. Centers perfect everytime! No more going left and staying a bit left when releasing.
Puting the mamba 6800 in the car, running on the 2 cell lipos I have.
Just awaiting on the servo saver really befor I race it, still have to build a lot of it but it should take me no time as I have rebuilt the rtr many times.
Ordered this body, I like it alot better than the stock one.....
May or may not be ready for a week from today, if not ready I will just race the Thunder Tiger (which handles better now and much faster).

RE: CT Racing......Now Open.....
Great to hear Mark...Rich was telling me about that servo...post a link if you get a minute.
Your RC18B was running like a top tonight with Rich's SPy ESC he graciously let me borrow. I seemed to be one of the few not unfortunate enough to break something although I had Ado's crytsals, Rich's ESC and probably something else from someone. I had a blast with the gang, the RC18 now has a proline panel truck body, a fanned heatsink and the stock gearing back. I bought an RC18MT I am going to build up the way I want nice and bulletproof with the right drivetrain/diff mods...the only missing link is the steering servo and the gearing on the 6800.
Here is the layout so far...
Associated RC18MT
JR pro synth radio with micro rec.
Mamba 25/6800KV
3Racing shocks
14/60 gearing
CVD up front/blue alluminum doggies in the rear
Lundford Titanium turnbuckles/balls
RPM towers F+R
RPM arms F+R
Steering drag link
Alloy steering with bushings
Graphite blue batt. strap
Servo saver rings to snappen up steering
Alluminum blue heatsink
Firm gold springs all around
Diff hub output sleeves
Super diff in the rear/locked diff up front(thanks for the tip Rich!)

RE: CT Racing......Now Open.....
Matt,
You will want a standard setup in the back, not firm springs. All the pros ran blue springs in the rear at nationals to soak up the acceleration. Otherwise you will have too much wheelspin off the line and spin out in the corners more easily...
I lost a stupid blue ballstud while building my kit. 12 dollars for a new set, now I have a gold one on it and it looks funny....
The steering with the servo and no servo saver is out of control. It is almost too responsive, I will show you guys my setup this friday, its completely set up for racing and looks to do quite well.
