Default Dad needs help with engine and break in

Thanks for the great forum. My son and have made our first purchase of a Redcat Shockwave. I have watched all the videos and we are dedicated to doing it right. I have run into a few issues and need advise.

1. I get the vehicle started however when I pull the glow plug igniter off the vehicle shuts off.

2. I have waited a minute and even opened the idle and then pulled off the glow plug ingiter and it still shuts off.

3. I have noticed alot of fuel sputtering from the area of the glow plug while idleing.

I am on phase two of the break in process and obviously need to correct the issue before I can do figure eights and 1/4 throttle.

Thanks again

Lean the high speed needle about 1/8 of a turn and the low speed needle about 1/16 of a turn. Motors are usually set really rich from the factory. NOW, leaning those needles will cause the idle to go up a little, so back off the idle accordingly.

Thanks for the help. That fixed the excess fuel in the glow plug area, however it still shuts off when disconnecting the glow plut ignitor. Iwill keep trying. Thanks again.

There should not be any fuel coming out from the glow plug. Make sure that you have the little copper gasket in place and that the plug with all the screws are tight.

I've never "fouled" a plug. If the coil area is full of fuel I just blow it out and heat the plug to burn off any residual fuel and put it back in. I'm willing to bet the low speed mixture is still too rich, causing liquid fuel to put the element out after pulling the driver off. I'd keep leaning the low speed mixture until you can remove the glow driver and have the engine stay running. The low speed mixture on most slide carbs is no longer influencing mixture once you open the throttle past about 1/8th of the carb's travel. Rotary carbs arent a whole lot different. You don't want the engine running slobbery rich.
