Default Traxxas engine replacment program

he guys i have a traxxas 4 tec .15 and i was reading about the traxxas engine replacment program where you send in you old engine and you get a new one or you can upgrade up to the 3.3 i was think about doing it and i was wondering if anybody here has done it before and is it worth it then just buying the engine at a hobby shop. and is the 3.3 a good engine for the 4 tec

Not sure about the details of the program, it's been to long. But the 3.3 Isn't bad, It'll run great. But for the same money, I'd rather have an OS engine. they are easier to tune, and tend to go through less glow plugs. There are several other engine options as well.

yea true there is other companies it just that requires research and im also the type of person to keep everything under one company even hop up are from traxxas i waz just asking if anybody has been thur the process of it just to no if traxxas is hassle to go with as far as support and actually completing the process

Fitting a 2.5 or 3.3 would require other parts. You'd be better off getting something else instead. You'll spend less and get a better product.


Nothing wrong with having an OS engine in a Traxxas car, after all.

A 3.3 is like $80 if you send your old engine in. Traxxas does sell conversion kits to fit the 2.5/3.3 in pro15 cars, I think they are $15.

(proanti1) they want 110 and 25$ and 5 shipping so 135 with engine and the new exhust and throtle linkage

Damn, guess it went up.

I would just buy a new engine, an os .18cvr will provide just as much power as a 3.3 and be a direct drop in. They are around $150 for a pull start rotary carb model.
