If your looking for a 1/10 scale onroad car i'd recommend a hpi rs4 evo 3 or a tc3 as stated above.
I've crashed my rs4 so many times and have yet to break something...and going 50mph into a car...well yea...you'd think that would destroy something....lol.

The 4tec isnt as durable as the rs4 in my opinion....plus traxxas parts seem to cost more then hpi.....the 4tec is belt driven where as the rs4 is all shaft...they say the 4tec goes 70+ which is a crock of crap...theres probably half as many upgrades for the 4tec as there is for the rs4.....just don't buy the 4tec based off the fact that it says 70+ mph out of the box...the only thing i like about the 4tec is that the internal gear ratio is 2.1 unlike the rs4 which is 2.56....which means more top end speed.

It really depends on what you want to spend, and what type of car you are looking for. The 4tec is an extremely durable car, and easily the fastest RTR, but it melts tires and doesn't handle all that great. There is the RS4 EVO 3, which is a decent car, but the engine is crap. The NTC3 is also a nice car, it's shaft driven and has potential to be competitive with the right aftermarket stuff (It's engine is also crap). If you were looking for a kit, Mugen makes some extremely nice 200mm cars, the MTX3 remains one of my favorites. Then there is the really expensive stuff, like x-ray, serpent, etc.

GT2 - tons of hop ups and you can still see it when it's 40 yds away from you.......(OB ducking for cover)

my vote is get the NTC3. Keep the stock small block in it or upgrade just to antoher small block and that car will last forever.
Good luck.
Good luck.

The RS4-3's are pretty nice IMO. Like mentioned, the engine is a bit (ok maybe more then a bit) crappy... but if you just wanna play around it does ok. Hop-up's arent too expensive, and it seems to be pretty stout. I have had mine lift off and go tumbling a few times now at over 70 and havent done any real damage *knock on wood*.
I did bigblock swap in mine and have yet to break anything in the drivetrain, and the extra weight hasnt seemed to really cause any ill handling effects from when it was stock.
