You don't need a rally engine. Any engine will do as long as you have a good air filter. What you need is tires and ground clearance. Shaft drive is also a highly recommended feature unless you like changing belts a lot.

Nitro wise right now with a racer 2, peewees the fastest running guy at 100 mph flat. There's faster dudes out there but showing up and running faster guy right now is him. But that's just peanuts compared to Miami jatos brushless losi eight pushing out a whooping 112 mph.
Brushless always wins 2 to one I clocked my brushless buggy at 106mph the other day and raced peewee's racer2 vs my brushless losi and I completely blew past him.
I know a dude with a brushless 118 mph car (brushless) but he hasn't come out in a while

Record wise nitro chamo still holds the title as fastest nitro in the city at 107MPH with his old 35 plus 21 motor........but that was over 5 years ago or more, after that he's used other motors on the same chassis but ive never seen him pull that same speed again. I know he did 103MPH ONCE like 4 years ago but never again from what ive seen. Since then ive only seen him hit low 90's mid 90's and that's it. Fastest ACTIVELY running racer 2 is peewee, Again there is faster dudes right now but the turn out lately isnt all that great

actually its funny you say that one of my friends took a wing plane(those triangle ones maybe thats not what there called) and he pulled 180 something MPH a few feet over the street we actually run our cars on.
