Modded TRX 3.3 motor with upgraded t-maxx exhaust.
33% nitro
39/43 Spurs
19/23 pinions
10,000 wt in diffs
44.5mm rear foams...26mm up front
I am using a bushnell radar gun. I will be getting video of it soon..I need to adjust my shock system though...at higher speeds the shocks arn't absorbing bumps as well and my rear tires are hoppin altitle bit....
In time i am going to upgrade the pinions to a 21/25 set up..
The only thing limiting me real bad is the final gear ratio.....2.57! thats horrible....compared to the 2.1 in the 4 tec. i've tried looking everywhere to lower this ratio...even looked into custom making the gears..but its going to get pricy.

Why a tmaxx pipe? Don't know, it fit nice...they say its a good performance upgrade for the trx 3.3 motor. Do you have a better recommendation for better performance, lmk..
Also, i did some speed runs with the car this weekend...i expected around 65-66mph top speed...well i clocked at 61 mph. The gearing i have is too tall for the trx motor i have in there. i am gonig to switch back to the 41/45 set up and see what that gives me. oh well...i geuss 70 will have to wait....i also have modded the crankshaft myself...i bought a few extra cranks..so i will put a stock one back in and see if my modded one hurt or helped speed.
I've been reading around the forum..and for about $450 bucks i could get a electric tc4 to 120 with no problem. its in the back of my mind.....but i love nitro to much!

Would one of these 3.3 high-volume air filters give the engine a little more airflow? I just ordered one to try out on mine.

Wow, only 55....that sucks..my 2 buddys just picked up brand new rs4 evo's. (older models) with the t3.0 motor. We clocked my buddys at 54mph with stock everything other then a rd tuned pipe...i thought a tz motor would be alot quicker. What kills the rs4 is the crappy internal gear ratio...i was thinking of picking up a older rs4 racer 2...its got a 2.16 internal gear ratio...compared to our crappy 2.56....i don't understand HPI, theres plenty of design flaws on the rs4 evo which they should fix....along with making some new diff gears..
What i would like to know is if theres a shaft driven car that has a 2.1 ratio...or is it all belt driven....

And I'm not using stock internal gearing. I really thought I was in the 70's with everything I've done. I should if leaned my motor to see if I could see improvement. I made my car lighter with carbon fiber parts, titanium screws and turnbuckles and at the time was using 41/45. Even if I use 37/41 gearing will not will not let me hit 70 mph. Some guys told me the modded TZ will do 100mph. I just may be doing something wrong, and I hope I am. My motor is getting old to nut I know that won't make that much of a difference cus my motor still has good compression.
I guess the big secret is in the motors. Has to be a .21 but I don't feel like dealing with fitting one in my car.

Yea, i was looking at some of those .12-.15 motors...some spin ruffly at 45,000 rpm..as long as the power was there also, i don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea.

Since you werent specific, I built a 98MPH evo some time ago but it was a BB car. I did manage to build one that went 83 with an 18 though. Mostly custom on the BB car but all off the shelf stuff on the 18 powered one.

Wanted to bring this thread up top....
Just an update of my speed goals....the rs4 nitro has been retired to a basher and show car..i topped at 61mph...this has been a very busy winter for me...i've switched to brushless for my speed adiction..i picked up a very cheap tc3 roller..and have put way to much money into it..lol...
Spring it coming!!!

RE: The Fastest HPI RS4 Evo 3 known to date
I know this is an old thread but the rs4-3 (shaft drive) is new to me.
I'm not done tuning and it wasn't topped out but I hit 84mph with a .21 last weekend.
Aiming for 90-95mph after it's tuned up!
It's single speed though, don't give up on nitro!
