Default HPI RS4 roto start help

I have a new hpi rs4 rtr 3 evo and the roto start will not turn the engine. It does try to turn but then just gives up after about 3 revolutions. The rotostart has a good 3000mah battery in it and fully charged. I can start the engine using my cordless drill but it takes ages because its just to slow.
Is this because the engine is new and still tight or is it because the roto start is useless.
The car has had 3 tanks of fuel through it.

It could be due to a new engine. Try starting it with the piston at BDC. Also, I've learned it's real easy to flood engines with a roto-start, so have you ruled that out?

yeah  i've tried everything. it even struggles with the plug removed. It turns with the plug removed but slowly. Im just hoping its a tight engine and will loosen with age.

Yea I have the same problem. My roto start went out on me so I have to use my drill and it does take forever. The roto start can be fixed but youd have to take it apart. The drill works fine for me it just takes a little bit longer.

I found the problem now. The 4 screws on the back plate was just a litle too tight.
