Default flywheel confusion ???

hello guys,
I have a ntc3 and im putting a os 12tr engine. and I have to convert it over to starter box starting.
so I order the non-pull flywheel.
well heres were im confused...........

the pull start flywheel has a bigger diameter then the non-pull flywheel ?????

why is that??
I would think that I would need the bigger dia. flywheel so I can use my starter box, right ??

Yes, if there is an option for a box/pullstart flywheel then I would expect the box flywheel to be a larger diameter......
Put some pictures/links to what you have bought.

The non ps motor mounts are a bit shorter so the motor sits lower in the chassis. You can use the ps motor mounts with the ps flywheel on a starter box but if you try to use the non ps flywheel you have to use non ps mounts.

Ah right, that would make sense then....the flywheel is used in conjunction with different engine mounts. As Big Alice said, use the small wheel with the low mounts.

when I was screwing with the car it hit me........... duh...
your right about using the smaller flywheel with the smaller mounts.
I was trying different combos and that just seemed to make cents.
thanks guys.

I would have gotten a machined, lightened flywheel. Yes it cost a little more, but you get
less reciprocating weight, and better throttle response.
