SERPENT IMPACT 2WD ??????'s
Hi,
im thinking about getting rid of my nitro 4-tec for something more capable and high performance car, maybe a 1/8 serpent 950r or maybe a serpent impact 2wd/4wd?? Just a question for anyone who has experienced driving a serpent impact 2wd... how does it handle? would it burn it because its 2wd? speeds? anything you wanna just put in and chip in information that would be spectaculously awesome!!! thanks

RE: SERPENT IMPACT 2WD ??????'s
if you want a hifh performance car definatly get a 4wd. if anything the best serpent would be the 950r. go with that if you have the budgtet or the 750 or the 810 i think the 810 is nuthin but a 1/9 scale aka oversized 1/10 the chassis is 235 mm instead of 200.

Serpent impact is a 1/10. 950r is a 1/8. First off, what's your budget and what scale are you looking at getting into? Do you want a kit or RTR? What's your engine tuning experience?

Okay, honestly, I doubt you'll find any 1/8 for under $500 used with an engine (assuming you need one). Stick with the 1/10 scales.
Can't say i've driven, or even owned a serpent. I'll bet if you goto www.rctech.net, you'll find people who can give you a pretty good review of the impact. It consists of mostly hardcore racers.
If you want to do the whole "1/8 scale look," mostly any 1/10 racing chassis will do. Just buy a 235mm GTP style body and some fatty tires for the rear and a little larger than average for the front and you're golden.

RE: SERPENT IMPACT 2WD ??????'s
Hi Kaju,
I have a 2WD Impact and a 4WD 835 (Updated Impact). Both these cars are great, and both require different driving styles. As you already know, the Impact is a 1/10 235mm car with fat rear tires and smaller front tires, I think it handles much better than a 200mm car and it gives the driver much better feel.
The 2WD car is Very quick in a straight line, easy to balance around a corner but takes a little longer before you can put all the power down out of a corner. Where as the 4WD car you can use the throttle much more in the corner, and it's still very good in a straight line, in fact in a short drag race the 4WD car would win because it's easier to get the power down at the start.
I enjoy driving the 2WD, but I must say that I do prefer driving the 4WD more. It could just be my driving style. I'd take a look on ebay, you'll should find a good Serpent 835 car there.
Just ask what you want to know and I'll do my best to help you out.

Hi kaju,
There are some manufacturer that sale cheaper 8th scale than the Serpent, like Mugen, Hpi and others. I deside to get the mugen Mrx-3 last time cox it is cheaper that the serpent, but also same as rolling chassis only. You can get the mugen for less than $500,engine, exhaust, tune pipe, electronics not included. And this is a four wheel drive 1/8 scale. Mtx-3, you can get it less $400. Also you may contact Ace Hardware hobbies about the Advance 10th scale they have good deals right now with engine

RE: SERPENT IMPACT 2WD ??????'s
Hi,
Top speed of my car at the moment because of gearing is about 70mph, and the 0-60 time is very quick, about 2 seconds.
If I wanted to overgear the car I could get it upto 100mph, with a runway etc.
I would say go for the 835, it's a great car, very solid and very stable. You can get away with not perfect setup but still dirve around the problem, where as the 200mm cars I've driven don't like that very much.
I'll take some picture of it for you.

Sorry I haven't got the pic yet, My car is not currently at my house, and I haven't been to my parents house for a little while.
I'll be there over the weekend so I'll get a pic for you.
Have you decided on what car to get yet?

RE: SERPENT IMPACT 2WD ??????'s
I think my name says a lilttle about me so I'll just put in my 2 cent. I have a few Serpents and I've never paid more than 700 for any one of them including and engine and sometimes running gear. You can find Serpent all day long on ebay for anywhere from 300 to 2000 but you have to watch what youre getting. I just saw an Imapct M2 in there for 300 complete with a NovaMega 15, servos, pipe and even a starter box. I run mostly Vectors since I dont race, I think that this is the way for me to go. I own 3 Vectors, 1 950 and 2 Impact M2s. As far as speed, I have gears from another manufacturer on my Vectors and Impacts, so the speed on those cars are a lot higher on those cars than on the 950, because of the pitch of the gears between the Centax2 and Centax3.
I have video of one of Serpents during break in with a Rossi Maranello and you can get a good idea of just how fast these cars are. This particular was clocked at 87MPH with an engine temp of 170. So with a little leaner motor and some more break in time, Im sure this car will head into the mid 90s with no prob.
If youre interested in the link to the video, email me at [email protected] and Ill get the link off to you.

I believe that the Impact 2000, the M2 and the 835 share most of the same parts. Some of the parts change between one and another but they should be pretty much the same. If you really want to get that thing moving, try a 21 in it. The NovaMega is a bigblock so the mounts on the Impact work on 21s.

RE: SERPENT IMPACT 2WD ??????'s
Hi,
Sorry it's taken me so long to get some photo's but I've worked out how to get them from my phone.
Here there are, the first one is a Impact M2, and is my play car and is great fun. The other is a 835 and is my race car. I didn't get a top down pic of that one.
Most of the differnces are the rear, so most other parts will change between the two.
Hope this helps someone.

I wish this class were raced more. They are so awesome. The .15big blocks make them push 60mph on the straights easy and they even have the advantage over 8ths on slightly smaller tracks. Just to show those who never seen em move before, here is a lil vid to get your adrenaline pumpin and wallets spittin out $$$.
