Nitro 4-tec vs. RS4 3 EVO
hello all ..
the subject says it all.. i am looking for onroad car with good speed and handling, simple maintenance and good available hop-ups , adjustable 2 speedand i usualy bash.. some times i race with some friends. some one i know recomended me the 4-tec but i am worried of the 3 belt system, i like the RS4 seems to be friendly on the maintenance and there is wide selection of hop-ups. can you also tell me where to find hop-ups for the RS4? all ideas and advices are welcome

RE: Nitro 4-tec vs. RS4 3 EVO
Hey i just got the rs4 and love it! Yea the maintenance is realy easy especialy with the removable radio tray. Just pop it off and spray it with an air compressor and your done. I don't have a fourtech and don't much about them. I went with the rs4 because of the shaft drive because i've heard that belt drives tend to get jammed with rocks and that. The rs4 is plenty fast to beet your friends and yes there are tons of hop ups for it. The place i go is [link=http://www.hobbyetc.com/shopby/catagory.cgi?got=no&cat=change&car_id=113&man=all]Hobby Ect[/link] were they have stuff for both the rs4 and fourtech. Check it out. You could also look at towerhobbies and see what they have.

dont get the 4-tech, youll regret the belt drive and the poor handling of it. The rs4 is better imo because is is a good all around basher. And like said before a good part is the removable radio tray. I get my parts from my lhs and towerhobbies.com.
Good Luck

I love both the new and old RS4s. I have the old belt drive and it's a good platform. Belt drive has certain advantages but I'm not here to get that started. My vote is for the RS4 and anything else HPI makes. Steer away from Traxxas though. I hate their crap! and a 4-Tec is a pain to work on.

thank you for your feed back.. honestly i was leaning toward the RS4 cause its shaft driven and i dont think i need it to hit 100 kmh speed.

That's great. JSYK, belt driven cars aren't bad at all. I've never gotten debris stuck in mine. Only time I hear people getting debris stuck are people who run on surfaces with lots of sand, dirt, grits, etc. In general you will be happy driving your nitro sedan in places with very little or no debris. That means less chances of your sliding into curbs, full traction (since you are on asphalt/concrete...unless the tires aren't hooking up), and less crap to clean off your car. I have 3 belt driven cars and have had no rocks in them. Only got leaves stuck in one car during fall, but the body was on so it got stuck under there. No worries. Leaves just got crushed.
Anyway, glad ya got the HPI. It's not only a more upto date car, but the real reason why its a better choice is that the suspension geomtry is better on the car, and places have more part support for it. Out of the box it will handle better yes, and be easier to drive.

RE: Nitro 4-tec vs. RS4 3 EVO
i would go for the rs4 because of two reasons, maitinence and durrability. The rs4 is realy easy to clean and i think the rs4 is aimed more the beginner were as the tc3 is for the intermediate driver. The tc3 has more tunability plus its realy made for the track. Not to say that the tc3 isn't a good basher but because your a newb i would pick the rs4. The rs4 is cheaper too.

RE: Nitro 4-tec vs. RS4 3 EVO
i never saw the tc3 but as all adviced me above to go for the rs4 3 evo and i did. now after about 20 tanks and tuning the car is great , handling is nice and easy to drive, easy to find parts with good parts. and above all durable and strong parts. i had a little crash driving it last night and it came back in 1 piece i used to have fusion .21 it was a great car and very fast. but with the same crash i lost a plastic part in the rear end of the car and if you wonder speedy may be? i will say no because i was driving in the same place almost at same speed. go for the RS4 you wont regret it. i didnt good luck

RE: Nitro 4-tec vs. RS4 3 EVO
Hi. A friend of mine is thinking about getting into the hobby, and he is quite frankly a newb. What's the top speed you guys get with the RS4 3 stock because he just wants one that will beat my nitro rustler. I could always just tell him to go with the RS4 3 even if it is slower and I could just go easy on him because it's easy maintenance and I don't want him to get frustrated and loose interest. PS: Sorry for the highjack, but it seems like this is the place for my question.
Thanks

RE: Nitro 4-tec vs. RS4 3 EVO
Both the NTC3 and HPI are made for entry level to intermediate drivers. The NTC3 is a fairly sturdy car. Just like any other nitro onroad slap one wheel dead into a curb at a high speed and kiss those arms and links goodbye. The only advantage the NTC3 has is it's xtra tools capable of helping you fine tune your ride. Both can be driven at a track; just that the NTC3 will cost less to future race. If you plan to do big racing, get neither one of these.

The ntc3 goes 49 and the rs4 goes 45. i have an rs4 and my friend has a tc3+. both of ours are stock. we drag raced and I one the first time and he one the second time. just to show u that both cars are pretty much even. i would get the rs4 because of the easy cleaning. it takes me 5 min to clean mine and more than an hour for my friend to clean his. I say go with the rs4. My .02

RE: Nitro 4-tec vs. RS4 3 EVO
The ss is a kit you would have to put it together ( which isnt bad, you would learn how it goes together ) and you would also need a radio w/ servo unit. The evo is rtr (ready to run)!!!!!!!!
