Hi Graigb

Look at the dimensions - isn't pecks car longer than yours? I have the impression... even in comparison to the size of engine!?

I just counted "gearbox-leghts" and the car of craig has about 4 times the space of the gearbox in between, the one of peck has about 6-7 times the space! The gearboxes really lookk small!

heres a picture of the chassis i have! the bottom one is the same as Pecks top one is the "Big Hammer" one!
also the top spur gear is of the "Big Hammer" and the bottom one is of the road car like Pecks!

now i look at the pic closer i can see thatr pecks engine is loads bigger then the .21 prafa 2stroke i had before i removed it and replaced it with the 4stroke.

So my first impression was right I heard or saw, can't remember anymore, that Prafa was doing some 1:6 or 1:5 models on this base. The strange thing is, that the gears stayed the same for years... my ROBBE Pantera is also +/- the same! Pecks model could be such an Touring Car type!

yeah all the prafa cars seem to have lots of interchangeable parts

do you know what pitch the gears are on prafa? or do you know if any other makes of gears mesh with the prafas ones (like hpi, traxxas?) my clutch bell is almost worn out and it would be loads easier to buy one from my model shop there order a prafa one.

is ROBBE a part of prafa? i bought a prafa truck from ebay once and it had ROBBE radio gear and air filter.

Yes but "cool"

The gears are all "module" 1, but there are some differences with the lenght of the clutch bells, but please do not ask me which one for which car, I don't know. Normally the newer ones are "short" and can be fitted everywhere. So you should be fine with a standard one.
For the primary gear sprocket you can take a normal "acetal" or nylon one and have the square machined in, all "module" 1.

Robbe is/was a strange enterprise that has bougt an selled models of several manufacturers at the same time. When they sold the Pantera (same as Prafa Tornado) they also had a car of Garbo and others... really strange. Most of the time with some minor changes to the original. I even have a Kyosho Buggy from Robbe (although Graupner was close to Kyosho!) with some small changes in the Body-Work.

Phil

Thanks again phil

the clutch bell im using now was longer then the original one on there, so i made a spacer that goes inside

so prafas are "module" 1... are all/most clutch bells of the bigger engines (.21 +) "module" 1?

Default RE: Manufacturer of my car??

hi all, wow so much info to take in, in such a short time..lol the prop shaft from the pinion to the front gearbox and the front gearbox inners are all missing on my car. 2 wheel drive and that .46 engine seems to shove out loads of torque, dohnuts at the slightest over throttle.. hmmm seems like I'm gonna have to get some parts for it.

Craig, How much did you want for your spare bits??

I got this car about 2 months ago off ebay and thinking at the moment what to do with it, I guess that the .46 engine must be getting quite rare now??

think I'm gonna catch some Zzzzzz's now, been up till now seting up my 1/10 tourer ready for the sunday carpark bash, off to try out my new engine installation. XTM .18 instead of the GS .15. first impressions are Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..

Nite all

Hi All!

Peak, you bought another Prafa yet?

Phil, i almost finished my 99% custom Prafa! lol
If you look at the photo above you can see the start of it!
heres what i have done...
removed the front diff, and bent up the front of the chassis (to help steering because its only going to be 2wd)

removed all the center drive train, and connected the spur right onto the input shaft for the rear diff.

strengthened mounted the engine on top of the rear diff.

trimmed the chassis as much as i could which made it very bendy!

then i made a all over roll cage that bolts onto the chassis and use's the body mount holes on the diff casing(and removes all the chassis flex)

as you can see i wont be using a body on this Prafa, I'm hoping not having one will help keep the engine cooler!

also it will make starting the car less hassle, because I'm using a hand held starter motor so if i stall the engine i would need to take the shell of to start it but not if i don't have a body

plus it looks too damn cool to cover up [8D] It looks like some sort of Monster Dune Buggy type thing *lol*

Phil I'm really happy with the heat sink i made! it gets hot (which shows its working) also the temps from the glow plug and head have droped lots!

Hi

Craig Your car looks cool.. the wheels on your car? are they running the large hex's (14mm approx) with the large wheel nuts.

not bought another 1 yet.. not been looking yet as my 1/10 scale car has been taking up time as there has been lots of mods to that. But will get round to the Prafa soon, it's stripped down at the moment for the begining of the restoration. Need some different wheels, Does anyone know if they do rubber touring car wheels and tyres for this car?? The current wheels and tyres are tooo wide.. and the has advers affects on the handling.

Default RE: Manufacturer of my car??

you might have a probblem finding wheels to fit it! they are 19mm hex!! most cars run 14 or 17mm hex.
my wheels are of a Mad Force (i think) which is the only car i know that runs 19mm's
i do have a set of prafa monster truck wheels to.
