whay rtr to buy , begginer here
ok , im new here but id like to get 1000 opinions on what rtr kit to buy . this will be my first so i thought id get some opinions and check the cars out and get something. ive got about $300 to spend. ill most likly want to upgrade things , suspension , better engine etc...
so let er rip . let me know what are goods and bads. ive looked around for reviews but dont find anything that helps really good yet.
one thing ill say is the hpi nitro rs4 3 evo caught my eye, look really nice , but then again im new so id like to get some opinions of what others say. maybe you bought a car and loved it or maybe you bought some hting and thought it was junk. let me know
thanks for helping me get started.

Will you be doing online shopping or locally?
I've noticed that kyosho onroads are not popular in the states maybe they need good marketing or taxes are too high and LHS's can't be bothered to import them in with low profit margin unless it's a distributor imports for them..I do recommend getting a kyosho alpha 3 rtr.Great for a beginner plus the price is affordable.I can point you where to get it cheap online and get the 2 speed for it.Well just 1 option.. You can upgrade with certain FW series parts on it .Anyone else here have a FW-series Onroad?

The HPI RS4-3 EVO RTR would be an excellent choice for a first car. It's perfect for parking lot bashing and with a faster engine can get along fairly well at the track. It's easy to set up and handles nicely. Also, unlike a lot of RTRs it seems to have a 2-speed gearbox standard. This would otherwise be the very first hop-up part to buy.
Also, fitting HPI bodies on it is very easy since on the body all positions for the holes and wheels are already marked. With other brands cars it's a bit of trial and error to get a body right.
If you don't want HPI, my second choice would be a mugen MSX 3.

The RS4 3 Type SS is a great car for starting off with and it can be good for the track later on, i plan to race mine this summer. It is a kit but goes together very easy and fast, the car stock a has preety god speed of about 50mph and is very durable, i had a slight radio problem and smacked the curb the other day and i only bent a dog bone, preety good for hitting it in second gear speeds

HPI or Associated...either offer shaft drive. HPI has aftermarket parts and support galore. Associated good too. If you get a RTR, learn to tune the basic motor and make your mistakes on it, then move up to a better motor once you are comfortable.

The best rtr to buy is the Team Associated Nitro TC3......its one of the fastest out of the box....also most important...since your watching your budget....its most reliable.......i have not bought one replacement part for my tc3 yet and i had it since last august.....i dropped a os 18 cvr in the bad boy and whoa!!! it moves.
your best bet would be the tc3....all these hpi or kyosho cars are all slow and not as reliable.
TC3 OS 18 CVR
Its a ferrari!!!!

i like my rs4-3. its the only on road i own but its not bad at all, ive had 2 bad hits with another car, the other car ripped the rear left side off (like suspension arms and such) inone piece, but within 10 minutes i had it back on and running. Its a great car for beginners. and tons of hopups!!!!!

One important thing to remember when you buy a car, is replacement parts. Virtually every local hobby store carries either RS4 3 parts, or Associated NTC3 parts. I bought the HPI RS4 3 SS kit, and loved it (I like the rotostart option). My hobby shop carried all replacement parts, if you are new to driving, I guarentee you will be slapping curbs, poles, trees and so on. Stick with a shaft drive car too, if you plan on parking lot bashing. Pebbles and belts DON'T mix. Good luck,
Rich

Check out ebay item number 5976776196 (good luck if you are bidding). I've bought from them in the past and can say that item was perfect, all pieces, and shipped fast. I bought a new NTC3 for $170 US (including shipping); the item that I have presented is the NTC3 + RTR.

I agree. I got mine from Associated (through ebay) for $192. Though all cars that AE sells on ebay are refurbished, so you most likely arent going to get a full warranty, but the 90 day version. But 90 days is a long time to find any factory defects. I've never had an issue with mine.
I cant' say it enough, NTC3, NTC3 and um... NTC3!
