Default Loosing Fuel Pressure... Pleas help

Hi All,

I have a stock HPI RS4 Evo 3 and I have noticed that after running the car for about 10 mins or so the engine would die. There is still about 1/4 tank of fuel left.

When you remove the body you can see bubbles in the fuel line. The weird thing is when try to prime it again on the down stroke you will see the fuel flow but when you release the primer on the up stroke the fuel will go back into the tank.

Looks like I'm loosing pressure some where. Once the motor cools off in about an hour or so it will work fine. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

WHen that used to happen to my stadium truck I found out it was from the fuel tube in the exhaust. It would leak and I would loose pressure. I would check it and make sure its on there good. Just a thought...Im still a newb.

Hi

You might consider getting a one-way valve. You put it in between the fuel tank and the carb, not between the fuel tank and the muffler. If you put it between the fuel tank and the muffler you could get to much pressure in the fuel tank and flood your engine.

I'm pretty sure the lines are all sung and tight. I will double check tonight anyway.

Good idea...

My question is why does it only do it when the motor is hot? If we assume that all the line are tight where else could it leak? The cap on the tank?

well, I'd think that the heat inside the engine would cause a pressure that pushes back into the fuel line. I often have that problem with my NTC3 - and I'm kinduva "newb" too. I keep my finger over the exhaust outlet until I just feel the engine catch and immediately let back. Sometimes it takes a try or two, but even with the engine hot, I can get it to kick up again. Also remember that a hotter engine needs more air to start - I find that sometimes if I use a spare finger (usually with the hand holding the car down while I pull the rip cord) to push open the rotary carb just a pinch, she'll fire right up.

Starting a hot engine is almost a bit like artwork. Like firing up an old car. Beautiful...
