Default Smartech 2 speed conversion

Hi, I want to make my single speed smartech into a 2 speed, I know some people have done it and i was wondering what you need to do it, I know i need the 2 speed clutch and the tranny, but do I need shorter driveshafts or is the tranny still the same size?

Honestly I do not see the point in doing this. For less cost you can still get the extra speed and not have to worry about the modifications needed to get the 2-speed to fit. I went up to an 18 tooth clutchbell and 3.75" dia wheels and this thing flys. I have had it radared (with witnesses) at 60.1 mph and there was still some throttle left. I ran out of space so I had to slow it down. I am sure I could have hit 65. that's with the 15CX the car came with. I did do some mods to the engine but it's still the same engine that some many people have said is total junk.

JUNK DON'T DO 60!!!!!!

Nope...I used a stock OFNA 18 tooth CB and it worked perfectly. I have at least a gallon on it right now and NO troubles at all. The only real problem I have faced is getting the pipe and manifold to fit in properly once I went to the larger wheels. Accelleration is still strong and if I go from dead stop to WOT I just spin the wheels. I have tried a 21 tooth CB as well and it was just too fast for me. I saw no need to go THAT fast so I backed it down to the 18 and left it there.
